After each round, the bets are collected and gathered into a central pot. The pot then contains all of the winnings for that round. This process is repeated for each round, and there are several betting rounds in a game of poker. Each round, the players develop poker hands between them. The current bet represents how much the players have bet in the current round. Bets are not placed directly into the pot, but instead toward it until the round ends.

In the game of poker, the best hand is the best five-card straight. If the board contains no five-card straight, the player with the highest pair wins. The second best hand, the high pair, wins if the high-card is higher than the second lowest one. However, a hand that contains a pair or two-high card breaks the tie. Likewise, if the hand does not have a pair or better than a pair, a straight, or even a better than-pair hand, will break the tie.
