A player may make several rounds of betting in a single game of Poker. Between betting rounds, a poker hand develops and the current bet represents all the money bet in the current round. Players do not place their bets directly into the pot, but instead bet toward it until the round ends. When the round ends, all bets are gathered into the pot. This is called the pot. Players in the first-to-act position sit to the left of the button and the big blind. They may raise their bets, but this can result in a loss if they have the highest pair.
